Apple computers, whether it be a PowerMac G4, iBook,
Powerbook, or eMac are a powerful, yet easy to use tool in the hands of a profesional
or child. They are intuitive and fun! They help you accomplish more by keeping you organized
and helping you find the information you need quickly and easily.
From the teacher/ parent's point of view it is a great educational and organizational tool.
From the student/ child's point of view it is fun and exciting. Apple is known for
It is full of challenges and intrigue for all!
Having grown up with DOS and Microsoft Windows, I was at first challenged to make the
switch to an Apple computer simply because it was a change itself. First of all, I was
facing the fact that Macintosh computers are a bit more expensive than IBM compatibles
because they aren't put together like the IBM compatible 'clones'. However, when you
compare the quality of the components they are competitively priced.
Getting used to a one-button mouse and learning a few new shortcuts can be easy habits
to change. It takes a short while to get used to where to find things at first since the
menu system is slightly different. The menu system does make sense and for most it is
easy to learn. It was only difficult for me because I had to unlearn ("change the habits")
the way I was used to doing things on IBM compatibles.
Challenges come because of being used to one system and having to adjust to a different
system. It is a matter of to re-programming the brain a little to think in another way
(a skill you are trying to give your children through home schooling!). Children, or
young people (at heart) have it easier because they just need to learn without unlearning
the old.
All that said, be encouraged! Whether starting out with your first experience on a
computer, or taking up the challenge and stepping up to a more intuitive and exciting
educational experience, give Apple computer a whirl! Using Apple promo codes to get one
is even better!
To help you a little or nudge you in the right direction you are presented with links
(places you can point and click on the mouse) to take you where you can save a little
time and money by checking out savings for educational purchases or just the usual

If you will be using your Mac for word processing, spreadsheets, or educational software
such as
Switched-On Schoolhouse and browsing the internet for research, you can easily get by
with a basic Apple desktop or notebook computer. You would also get along fine with a G3
or G4. A PowerMac G5 is designed, for example, for professional servers or graphic artists,
people that work in the animated cartoon or movie industry, or those that work at NASA.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you can and may want to run Windows applications
on your Apple computer. Guess what? You can get the Windows programs to work by using
Connectix Virtual PC. That way, if you get a program that only runs on Windows you can
still run it on your Apple computer. For help or questions on this topic please go to the
Connectix website.
