The Bob Jones HomeSat hardware consists of a 35" satellite dish, a receiver and some cables


Why does the satellite dish have to be so big?

A 35-inch satellite dish is used because it gets much better reception than an 18-inch dish. Testing has been done and the results on the 35-inch equipment made a world of difference. With all the costs involved you want the best quality picture possible.

How many channels can I get?

The receiver is designed to receive only the 4 channels being broadcast for the Bob Jones HomeSat program although the satellite dish may receive other channels as well. You would need a different receiver to receive other channels.

What direction do I have to point the dish?

The satellite dish needs to be pointed toward the satellite located over the equator over the south of Houston, TX so you need to use Houston as a general reference point. For a more specific compass reading you can call Technical Support at 1-800-739-8199 and provide them with your zip code.

Can I get it at my location?

The good news is that the signal for the Bob Jones HomeSat program comes via the T-5 satellite and reaches the 48 contagious states as well as Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and some of the Caribbean countries. This means that chances are you may receive the program at your home.

Can I use a computer monitor?

You may use a TV, a TV monitor or a computer monitor, although you may also need to supply any extra cords for the hook up. If you have the right equipment and hook it up properly you may be able to pipe it into every room in your house to TVs, TV monitors, LCD screens and your computer monitors.

What if I am not allowed to have a satellite dish?

Some people say they are not allowed to install a satellite dish over 18 inches in diameter. Others say their landlord or property association disallows any type of satellite installation. According to the latest FCC rules, as of October.. there are only two reasons why they may disallow the installation. One is for safety reasons. Is the system analog or digital?

The system uses Ku-band digital technology and is designed to pick up the Bob Jones HomeSat digital signal off the Telstar 501 satellite.
