Workshop Computer Courses

Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are$54.00 and15 hours in length.(That’s only $3.60 an hour!) Progressing to the next level of the computer courses requires a proficient understanding of the computer skills covered in earlier courses. In order to be successful in the next level, you must be able to meet expectations and skill levels of that curriculum.

The Meat & Potatoes of Buying a Computer

Learn the difference between what equipment and programs you need and want, where to find a good buy, what you can do with it, and what the salespeople want you to buy. (Ha! You can do better!)

Computer Basics

Have the (grand)kids tried to teach you how to use the computer? Do you feel intimidated by the monster in the corner of the room? Want to try before you buy (or use someone else’s for free)? This workshop is geared toward familiarizing you (using the knowledge you already have) with how computers basically work, including plugging them in and turning them on, mouse control, surveying some of the Microsoft programs, and showing off your accomplishments!

This ongoing class focuses on computer problems students bring to class. You may be surprised how many of you have similar troubles! When the sharing and solving are finished, on to a project we go! Past projects (which we periodically revisit) include creating a calendar, address book, mailing labels, and finding that missing file.

All MATC classes are30 Hours in length. Each class is$73.00 (for ages 50 - 61) and$10.00 (ages 62+). Progressing to the next level course requires a proficient understanding of computer skills covered in earlier courses. In order to be successful in the next level, you must be able to meet expectations and skill levels of that curriculum.

Evening Computer Courses

All TOSA evening classes are15 hours in length. Unless otherwise noted, each class is$64.00 for residents and$74.00 for non-residents.

Beginning Computers

Whether you are 52, 62 or 92, you can still learn and enjoy technology!Gain skills with limited hand/finger mobility. Learn at a slow pace how to turn computers on/off (without unplugging them!), what a mouse is and how to use it, differences between a keyboard and typewriter, and basic maneuvers in Windows 95.

Intermediate Computers

A continuation of Beginning Computers for Seniors. If you feel good about your computer skills after the beginner class, try this! Learn how to create and manage your files in word processing and accessory programs, including basic design of letters, flyers and objects.

Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing program that allows you to easily create page layouts, including signs,flyers, office forms, newsletters and more! Set up and manipulate text and picture frames, insert pictures and clip art, and add borders. Work with templates and wizards, and add Word Art to your publications.
