Whitelisting allows the good e-mail to get through…
Whitelisting prevents the filtering systems that the ISPs are using from deleting the mail you want
Increasingly, ISPs are using filtering systems to try and keep Spam out of customers' inboxes. Sometimes, they accidentally filter the e-mail that you want to receive.
To make sure that our support e-mails are not deleted or filtered into your "junk" or "bulk" folder, please add the following Home Schooling R Us domain to your list of trusted senders or to your address book or contact list (in your e-mail software) and to your ISP/mail service's whitelist, namely home-schooling-r-us.com
This should guarantee that you will receive whatever e-mail you want to be receiving… catalog post-order e-mails, the Home School Corner newsletter, and of course, Home Schooling R Us Support replies (should you ever need support).
It's a shame to bother you like this, but in this day and age, overzealous software, ISPs, and mail services might block just about any company's e-mail at any time by accident.
How do you add Home Schooling R Us domains to the so-called "white list"? That varies from ISP/mail service to service…
Hotmail: Place the above-listed domains on what they call your Safe List. The "Safe List" can be accessed via the "Options" link, situated to the far right of the main menu tabs.
AOL: Place the domains in your Address Book. Check AOL help for details, if necessary.
Yahoo! Mail: If our e-mail is filtered to your 'bulk' folder, open the message and click on the "this is not Spam" link next to the "From" field.
Other ISPs/mail services: Each mail service is a little different, but the idea is the same. And if you are using the mail service provided by your own local ISP, they will have their own whitelisting procedures. If you can't find how to add the above domains to a whitelist, try moving the message from the Junk folder to your 'inbox' or forwarding the message to yourself (if you're getting it at all, that is).
If e-mail continues to be filtered, call or e-mail your ISP's tech support and specifically ask how you can be sure to receive all e-mail from home-schooling-r-us.com. Follow their instructions for whitelisting all of the above domains.
Spam filters: If your e-mail software has its own built-in spam filter or if you are using a third-party spam filter, you will have to indicate to the filtering software to accept Home Schooling R Us mail. You may need to search a filter's help for how to do this -- but the basic concept is the same. You will either add the above domain to some kind of whitelisting list (or a "good list" or similar name) or click to indicate that mail filtered into a "Junk" folder is not junk, etc.
NOTE: If your ISP does not allow whitelisting a domain, they are violating your basic right to receive e-mail from whomever you want. There are many other, customer- focused, ISPs who would love to have your business.
We support fully the anti-spam motivations of all mail servers and ISPs. But tens of thousands of e-mails can be blocked because of some unfair, vigilante groups who are more anti-business than anti-spam. If they prevent you from whitelisting Home Schooling R Us, remember it is your basic right to receive e-mail. Switch providers.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but these circumstances are beyond our control. All you and we can do is work together with the good ISPs and responsible mail services to shut out the spammers, and let the "good guys" through.
